CoverEdge, LLC (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the CoverEdge application (“the Service”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Service.

By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information: Email address and password when you create an account
  • Profile information: Display name
  • Portfolio data: Trade entries, positions, option details, ledger entries, and other financial tracking data you manually enter or import
  • Preferences: Risk profile settings, notification preferences, data provider preferences, and research filter settings

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Authentication tokens: Session cookies managed by Supabase Auth for maintaining your login session
  • Local storage data:UI preferences such as research control settings and display preferences stored in your browser’s local storage
  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and general interaction patterns for the purpose of improving the Service
  • Device information: Browser type, operating system, and screen resolution

2.3 Information from Third Parties

Market data (stock quotes, option chains, and related financial data) is fetched from third-party providers on your behalf. We do not share your personal information with these providers; only ticker symbols and market data requests are transmitted.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
  • Authenticate your identity and manage your account
  • Store and display your portfolio and trade data
  • Generate analytics, charts, and performance metrics
  • Send notification emails (weekly digests, opportunity alerts) if you opt in
  • Provide roll recommendations and research data
  • Respond to your requests and support inquiries
  • Improve and optimize the Service
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate CoverEdge. Each has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data:

  • Supabase — Database hosting, authentication, and row-level security. Stores your account data, portfolio data, and preferences.
  • Vercel — Application hosting and deployment. Processes HTTP requests and may collect server-side logs including IP addresses.
  • Resend — Email delivery service. Used to send notification emails (weekly digests, opportunity alerts). Receives your email address and display name for email personalization.
  • Tradier — Market data provider. Used to fetch stock quotes and option chain data. No personal user data is shared; only ticker symbols are transmitted.
  • Finnhub — Market data provider. Used as an alternative/fallback for stock quotes. No personal user data is shared; only ticker symbols are transmitted.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

CoverEdge uses cookies and browser local storage for essential functionality:

  • Authentication cookies: Managed by Supabase Auth to maintain your login session. These are essential for the Service to function and cannot be disabled.
  • Local storage: Used to persist UI preferences such as research filter settings, display preferences, and Pro mode state. This data is stored only in your browser and is not transmitted to our servers.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We do not engage in cross-site tracking.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data and portfolio information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service to you. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

Aggregated or anonymized data that cannot be used to identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytics and service improvement purposes.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Supabase Row-Level Security (RLS) ensuring users can only access their own data
  • Secure password hashing managed by Supabase Auth
  • Server-side authentication validation on all data operations

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data and account
  • Export: Request an export of your data in a portable format
  • Opt-out: Opt out of non-essential email communications at any time through your account settings

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • The right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used
  • The right to request deletion of your personal information
  • The right to opt out of the sale of personal information — we do not sell your personal information
  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

10. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions). If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete that information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at legal@coveredge.io.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice within the Service. Your continued use of the Service after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
